Avra Water obtains water from the Avra Valley aquifer. The Avra Valley aquifer begins as the Altar Valley aquifer located on the Arizona/Mexico border. The Altar Valley Wash watershed flows north into the Avra Valley and the Brawly Wash watershed around the Three Points area. More Info...
Our aquifer was created primarily from mountain runoff and storm water infiltrating beneath the ground along the Avra and Altar Valleys.
Carbon-14 test results indicate that our water is very old- probably thousands of years old. We are fortunate to have a water of this quality for our use.

Frequently toilets are the culprit of high water bills. If your toilet is leaking or running this may be the cause. To check and see if your toilet is leaking, put food coloring in the tank. If you see color coming into the bowl then your toilet has a bad flapper causing the leak. We do offer free flappers to our customers. Stop by and pick one up so you can repair the leak and keep your water costs down.
No. Avra Water is responsible for anything up to the water meter and the water meter itself. Any connection past the water meter is the customer’s responsibility and should be repaired by a qualified plumber.
The water supplied by Avra Water Co-op has a hardness rating of 91 mg/L (5.3 GPG) which, according to the USGS Standard, is considered to be moderately hard.
